Dave bobbed his head to the music flowing from his headphones, his own familiar beats the songs to his life. His whole existence was in those beats, the sickest most wicked beats in the entire country- if he said so himself.
Of course, just as the song ended, Dave's chum John slid in the seat beside him, starting to chat on about something Dave wasn't sure he really wanted to hear.
"Yeah and I was blah blah blah blah, party, blah blah, girl, blah blah, kissed-"
"Wait." Dave stopped him, slowly placing his headphones around his neck, his cool facade frozen to his face.
"Huh?" John stopped as his bright blue eyes locked onto Dave's black shades, his goofy smile still happily placed on his face.
"What was that about a girl and kissing?"
"Oh, I met this girl at a party and we kissed."
"What." Dave nearly froze, but he was much too cool for that. Instead he continued the eye-to-shade contact with his chum, unable to believe the words his glorious god ears were hearing.
"A girl actually willingly kissed you?"
"Yeah...Why do you say it like it's a surprise?"
"Are you sure she wasn't drunk off her ass?"
"I'm pretty sure, because she was the one who kissed me. One minute we were talking about video games and then..." John's face tinted pink as he glanced away from Dave, his crystal blue eyes locked in the memory, "Then she just sort of placed her lips on mine..."
"Was she pushed?"
"No, we were alone on sitting on the stairs-"
"Was she going to die?"
"What? No! I-"
"Are you sure she wasn't just nuts?"
"Dave, can't you just accept that a girl willingly kissed me? You make it sound like I'm totally un-kissable...."
"You really think that?" John's face fell a little.
Uh oh. Here comes that feeling. Dave nearly cringed.
"No, no. Not at all, bro. Just shocked is all. I would have thought that Troll, Victoria, would have already kissed you." Dave said coolly, glancing away from John- not that he could see that.
"You mean Vriska? Ah, no...We didn't work out..." John frowned, but a blush dusted a rose complexion across his face as he smiled again, "She uh, actually is with Tavros...I hear they're doing well...(Name), the girl from last night, was in a relationship with a Troll as well...It's how we started talking-"
"Yeah, that's her name, (Name)."
"Hey, there she is now!" John said happily, pointing toward the front of the lunch room, where a girl had walked in.
Her (h/l) (h/c) danced around her face, shimmering in the school lighting. Her (e/c) eyes scanned the room with a hint of mystery laced into the iris'. Her (s/c) skin shimmered with an untraceable light, her soul seeming to ignite the whole room in multiple rays of pure bliss.
Dave watched as she swept her beautiful form across the room, her eyes locked onto him.
He could have sworn she saw his soul. She pierced his entire cool kid facade with one glance, her soul melting into his, her ears already hearing his every thought, her eyes swallowing him up in their irreplaceable grasp.
Dave struggled to keep his act, turning away from her. Of course she would notice him first, he was a Strider. Strider's were magnets for girls attention. Like moths to a deadly one-night-stand-and-then-I'm-not-going-to-call-you-back flame, they couldn't resist the Strider Charm.
"Hey, John!" (Name) called, brushing past Dave toward to John, almost as if Dave wasn't there.
Did she just...
Was that even possible?
"Hey, (Name)!" John beamed as she jumped into his arms happily, her arms winding around his neck.
'This is so not okay.' Dave thought to himself, watching the unbelievable public display of affection in front of him.
Bro would slap the shit out of him if he saw this. A Strider was the best man in the room at all times. Every girls ovaries scream in delight at the very utterance of the name, 'Strider'. If Bro caught word of this, Dave would be disowned. He wouldn't be able to hold the title anymore, dishonor would be the only thing he would know..
His shades would shatter right in front of his ruby red eyes. They wouldn't even be taken. Just...Shatter. Right there on his face. It wouldn't even be ironic.
Because of this one girl.
The girl immune to the Strider Charm.
The girl in love with John.
"Hehe...Dave, this is (Name), the girl I've been telling you about. (Name), this is one of my best buds, Dave!" John smugly introduced her.
Was it just Dave or had John raised his voice? He could have sworn John was waving her around on his arm like a big, brilliant, golden trophy.
'No. Not possible. She totally saw me first. She stopped for a minute. Totally awestruck.' Dave convinced himself, the nervous pit in his stomach fading as he repeated it again.
He glanced at her (e/c) orbs, totally unprepared for what was about to happen next.
Her eyes glistened like pools of infinity, the very image of Dave reflected back. Suddenly he was looking right back at himself, right past his poker face and heavy black shades. His crimson eyes pierced his soul, shattering the very Strider charm that made him a Strider.
Awestruck, his stomach quivered, his heart beating rapidly, way past the acceptable number for any Strider, his bones melting into the floor as he was lifted into the very force of life, the mysteries of the universe caressing his skin like the dew drops of the morning on the simple blades of grass. He was pushed into nothingness, the darkness lit up by an endless sky of stars, eons of light before him and one stunning sun chasing away the shadows, it's smile like the universe dancing before his eyes.
It's voice, the voice of an ethereal creature blessing him with the sound, rung in his ears as it spoke to him and only him. It blew his body to bits as it scraped away his shell, eagerly speaking directly to his soul. He was captured in it's voice, the enchanting bells tugging him into the ligut further-
"Uh, Dave...?" John called, slamming Dave back into reality.
He'd have to thank him for that later.
Dave shook himself of the spell the girl had put him under, glancing up to John with his normal cool kid posture.
John gave him a weary smile, "She..She said hello."
"Sup." Dave gave a short nod to (Name), not daring meeting her gaze again.
Never before...And never again.
Dave didn't appease the thought any longer.
"Hi." She sighed, rolling her eyes as she turned back to John. "I'll see you later, okay? I'm going to go help..."
Dave quit listening, already bored of the situation.
HIs stomach gurgled with acid, a bitter taste filling his mouth as he watched the way she looked at John.
He didn't feel this way.
Not with someone who pretended to not notice Dave.
What the hell was he even thinking? Sure, no girl ever really like John Egbert immediately, but it was still a relationship that worked for him..
She'd realize her mistake soon enough.
Dave was sure of it.
I sighed as the last hour of school rolled around, happy to almost be over with the day. I wasn't a fan of school too much, it had too many people, but a few things did make my day better...
John, for example.
A blush rushed to my face as I thought about the adorable boy I had met last night. I couldn't explain it..But I didn't want too. It was nice. Finally, a nice guy...He cared for me! He even sent me a 'good morning' text!
My heart swooned inside my chest as I danced into my seat. Joy filled my skin to the brim until I nearly exploded with bliss.
Happily, I tucked my ear buds into my head, automatically playing my newest Dubstep remix I made a few nights before.
I LOVE Dubstep. My beats are the sickest, most wicked beats in the whole country- if I say so myself.
Nodding my head to the beat, I anxiously awaited the drop, trying to contain the growing happiness inside me.
Before I knew it, a felt someone tap my shoulder.
I turned to face the student beside me happily, my fingers tucked around my ear bud as I took it out.
My eyes met black shades, messy pale blonde hair swept over some of the sunglasses. IT was almost white...Which wasn't much contrast against the males light skin. His hand pulled away from my shoulder and I glanced over him once, noting his red sleeved shirt with a white torso and a broken record design in the middle.
"Yes?" I asked, meeting his shades, which was really annoying...I wish I could just see his eyes...Who wears shades inside anyways?
Oh, wait. Shades...Didn't John introduce me to someone with shades earlier? Yes! He was kind of rude...Just staring at me like that before...What was his name? Dan? Dirk?
"You're (Name), right?"
I nodded, "And you're..."
There was an awkward pause.
"I-I'm sorry...I don't remember your name." I laughed nervously, a little bit embarrassed to have forgotten his name.
He stared at me for a long moment, his whole face a frozen poker face...God this was uncomfortable...It was so hard to tell if he was staring at me directly with those stupid shades.
"Dave. Dave Strider."
"Ah! That's right! Dave! John introduced us earlier."
"Yeah. What in the name of smuppet are you listening too?" He asked, sighing as he continued to stare at me..
I couldn't tell.
Smuppet...? What was a smuppet?
"Wha- Oh! It's my newest remix! I listen and make Dubstep. Do you wanna hear?" I asked, extending the ear bud I still held in my hand.
I guess he glanced at my hand- again, I couldn't really tell-, before he scuffed and shook his head.
"Dubstep? Seriously? That's not ironic at all."
"If you want to actually do something more worth while with your time, and hear some real talent, you should listen to my beats sometime."
"You make music?"
"I create music more sicker than you could even imagine. It's all over my blog, I've got fans everywhere."
I stopped for a minute, debating whether or not if he was serious.
He seemed pretty serious.
"Well, you're certainty entitled to your own opinion, but I think I'll pass...Thanks for the offer, though." I smiled, turning forward and putting the ear bud back in my ear.
First she pretends to be uninterested in me and now she turns down the chance to hear my sick beats? I don't just offer this to anyone out on the street...
I stop myself before I get any further. Clearly this girl is delusional.
